OUR PROGRAM

Sierra-Tango Sisters is a peer mentorship program that connects girls in aviation through airport meet-ups, email, zoom calls, local events, and more, creating a supportive community through the student pilot stage of their aviation journey.

Events will include: meeting and networking with your crew and others, learning about the field of aviation, touring your airport, special aviation guests like pilots and teachers, aviation-related activities, pizza and movie nights, and more!

Email and zoom updates will answer questions about the student pilot process, which entails many steps! See The Flight Plan dropdown in our menu to see every aspect of getting your private pilot certificate. We will also guide you to other local events, scholarship help, and more.

How it Works

CREWS

Girls who join Sierra-Tango Sisters are placed into a crew—a small group of girls who share a passion for aviation and are just as excited about flying as you!

Each Crew is led by a female student pilot under the age of 21 who has recently been in your shoes. Crew leaders, or captains, provide encouragement, answer questions, share their experiences, and help members stay motivated throughout their aviation journey. Their mentees are called cadets.

Throughout the year, Captains check in with their cadets regularly, answering questions and sharing information about scholarships, camps, local events, and more, celebrating each member’s achievements along the way. Think of your crew as your aviation friend group!

CAPTAINS

Captains are Mentors who have been approved by Sierra-Tango Sisters to help younger girls (cadets) navigate their aviation journeys.

1-3 captains lead crews of up to 10 girls, their cadets. They meet at monthly events, send bimonthly emails, and do Zoom call check-ins when events are not held or when many opportunities are approaching.

Captains spend a year (or more!) helping their crew grow while also recruiting any new cadets and captains that find their way to our community!

CADETS

Cadets are mentees who have been approved by Sierra-Tango Sisters to be guided by mentors, or captains. A parent must approve your involvement in the program.

Whether you are just starting to explore aviation or if you are actively working towards your certificate, we would love to have you aboard!
